Port of Spain, Trinidad - The view is fantastic

So your stuck between a funeral home and air conditioner dealership on a small trash strewn side street in Port of Spain at noon in full sunshine at 100 degree Fahrenheit with 3000 sweaty, dancing, half-naked people and four synchronised music trucks packed with about 1000 speakers and apartment size power generator units to provide an earthshaking sound playing the same soca tune for the 10th time over while an army of barkeepers refill the many plastic coffee cups that hang around the necks of the mascaraders with deadly mixtures of top self liquor and not much else.
But the view is fantastic:

Unfortunately amongst all this beauty there are things I wished I hadn't seen...

Tobago Love

Swinging in my hammock (imported from Nicaragua) from a beautiful shady almond tree, enjoying my view of majestic pelicans diving in the sea, fish jumping, a turtle coming up for a deep breath of fresh air. Where am I? The gorgeous and layed back sister island of Trinidad of course, Tobago!
I am reminded of why we chose this place to get married 5 years ago, back then we were just 2 and now we are 4... Ivy and Connor both love it here too.
Enjoying sunset on Pigeon point
Swinging in the hammock at our Villa Tosca

Today we chose Mt. Irvine beach to spend the afternoon and I brought the hammock ...which after a few tries Daniel gave up trying to hang it from a coconut tree. Then a life guard came by and helped me, his comment was your husband gave up too soon! He suggested the almond tree and there it hangs as I happily swing and blog ;)

People here are so friendly and I'm a local which means I can understand everything finally ( being in Granada was a bit tough without being a Spanish speaker). Yesterday we went to another lovely beach.. Pigeon point. On the way there I stopped at a roadside shop to buy something and the shop owners 6 year old son decided one time that I was a keeper. He talked non-stop to me about any and everything and then after his mom made him blush because she pointed out that he was in love he then declared that he will build a house for me. If all else fails I will come back to Tobago in about 20 years, visit the shop, ask for the young man and remind him of that promise he made to me :) Ahhh Tobago Love for true!
